Privacy Policy for Text Automator
Last Updated: February 17, 2026
Overview
Text Automator is an SMS automation application for Android developed by CodePixel Labs LLC. The app allows you to schedule recurring text messages, automatically reply to incoming messages, automatically forward incoming messages, and send group messages. This privacy policy explains how the app collects, uses, and protects your data.
App Features
Text Automator provides the following core features, each of which involves specific data handling described in this policy:
- Scheduled SMS: Send recurring text messages to contacts on days and times you choose
- Auto-Reply: Automatically reply to incoming SMS messages based on rules you configure
- Auto-Forward: Automatically forward incoming SMS messages to other phone numbers based on rules you configure
- Group Messaging: Send a single message to multiple contacts at once
- Backup & Restore: Export and import your app data as an encrypted file
Data Collection and Storage
What We Store Locally on Your Device
All of the following data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Contact Information: Phone numbers and names of recipients you add to scheduled messages, auto-reply cards, auto-forward cards, and groups
- Message Content: Text messages you create for scheduling, auto-reply templates, auto-forward templates, and group messages
- Incoming Message Content: When Auto-Reply or Auto-Forward features are enabled, the content and sender information of incoming SMS messages that match your configured rules are stored in an on-device inbox (up to 500 entries per feature)
- Schedule Settings: Days, times, frequency, time windows, and other scheduling configuration
- Send History: A log of messages sent by the app, including timestamps, delivery status, and any error messages. Scheduled SMS history is automatically purged after 30 days
- App Preferences: Theme settings, tutorial progress, pause states, timezone selection, and other configuration
- Subscription Status: Whether you have a free or premium subscription, stored locally
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not transmit your contacts, messages, phone numbers, or any personal data to our own servers
- We do not scan or store your full contact list — we only access individual contacts when you select them or when a name lookup is needed for a matching auto-reply or auto-forward rule
- We do not sell, rent, or share any of your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes
- We do not use advertising SDKs or ad tracking
Incoming SMS Processing
When the Auto-Reply or Auto-Forward features are enabled, the app processes incoming SMS messages to determine whether they match your configured rules. This is how these features work:
- The app receives incoming SMS messages via a system broadcast receiver or, as a fallback, by reading SMS notifications from your messaging app
- Each incoming message is checked against your active Auto-Reply and Auto-Forward cards (rules you have created)
- If a message matches a rule, the app performs the configured action (sends a reply or forwards the message) and logs the event to your on-device inbox
- Messages that do not match any rule are discarded and not stored
- All processing happens entirely on your device — incoming message content is never sent to any external server
Crash Reporting
Text Automator uses Sentry, a third-party error reporting service, to collect crash reports and error logs. This helps us identify and fix bugs. Crash reports may include:
- Device type, operating system version, and app version
- Stack traces and error messages generated by the app
- General device state at the time of the crash (memory usage, battery level)
Crash reports do not include your contacts, phone numbers, message content, or other personal data. For more information on how Sentry handles data, see Sentry's Privacy Policy.
Permissions
SMS Permissions (SEND_SMS, READ_SMS, RECEIVE_SMS)
Text Automator requires permission to send SMS messages. This permission is used to send scheduled text messages, auto-replies, auto-forwarded messages, and group messages on your behalf. The app also requires permission to receive and read incoming SMS messages in order to power the Auto-Reply and Auto-Forward features. The app will never send a message without your explicit instruction through creating a scheduled message, auto-reply rule, auto-forward rule, or group message.
Contacts Permission (READ_CONTACTS)
This permission is used when you select a recipient from your contacts and when the app looks up contact names for display purposes (for example, to show a sender's name in the Auto-Reply or Auto-Forward inbox, or to substitute a contact's name into a message template). The app does not scan, upload, or store your full contact list.
Notification Access
As an optional fallback, the app can use Android's Notification Listener service to detect incoming SMS messages by reading notifications from your default messaging app. This is only used when the standard SMS broadcast receiver is unavailable. You must explicitly grant this permission in your device's Settings. Notification content is processed on-device only and is not transmitted externally.
Other Permissions
- Foreground Service: Required to reliably send scheduled messages and process incoming messages in the background
- Boot Completed: Required to restore your scheduled messages and background services after device restart
- Exact Alarms: Required to trigger scheduled messages at precise times
- Ignore Battery Optimizations: Requested to prevent the operating system from delaying or skipping scheduled messages
- Notifications: Used to display a persistent service notification and to alert you if a required permission has been revoked
- Wake Lock: Keeps the device awake briefly while sending a scheduled message
- Vibrate: Used for notification alerts
Data Security
- All user data is stored locally in your device's private app storage, which is sandboxed by the Android operating system
- Backup files are encrypted using AES-256 encryption with a password you provide
- No personal data (contacts, messages, phone numbers) is transmitted over the internet
- The only network communication is crash report data sent to Sentry, which does not contain personal information
Data Retention
- Your data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app
- Scheduled SMS send history is automatically purged after 30 days
- Auto-Reply and Auto-Forward inboxes retain up to 500 entries each; older entries are removed as new ones arrive
- You can delete individual reminders, auto-reply cards, auto-forward cards, groups, and inbox items at any time
- Uninstalling the app removes all data stored within the app's private storage. Backup files you have exported and saved outside the app are under your control and are not affected by uninstallation
Backups
The app offers an optional backup feature that:
- Exports your reminders, auto-reply cards, auto-forward cards, groups, and settings to an encrypted file
- Requires a password you set to encrypt and decrypt the backup
- Uses AES-256 encryption
- Stores the backup file locally on your device
- Does not upload backups to any server
In-App Purchases
Text Automator offers an optional premium subscription that removes usage limits on certain features. Purchases are processed through the Google Play Store. CodePixel Labs LLC does not directly collect or store your payment information. For details on how Google handles purchase data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
